What is the FIRST (Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams) ?
FIRST (Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams) is one of the first international cooperation networks created in order to answer cyber incidents. It brings together all the CSIRTs and PSIRTs (Computer/Product Security Incident Response Team) community.
CERT-FR has been a member of FIRST since September 2000.
Role and mission
The goals of FIRST are to:
- Promote cooperation between teams to prevent, detect and restore nominal operation in the event of an IT security incident;
- Provide common communication tools for vulnerability notes, alerts on potential vulnerabilities and on-going incidents;
- Assist in the development of its members activities (especially research and operational activities);
- Facilitate data sharing for information, tools, methods and techniques.
FIRST organises an annual international «Computer Security Incident Handling Conference», whose main theme is the handling of security incidents and experience sharing.
FIRST brings together nearly 400 teams. The list of members is available on the FIRST Website.
